Bill Gates and Steve Jobs

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs: these are probably the two best known men in the world of personal computers. In 2007, they made a rare joint appearance at the The Wall Street Journal’s “D: All Things Digital” conference. It was an entirely unscripted and unrehearsed on-stage conversation with co-producers Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg.

This event was reminiscent of another event in history, more than two decades ago: In 1983, during the “Macintosh Dating Game”, Steve Jobs famously interviewed Bill Gates as a possible suitor.

Steve: I know, it’s not fair. But I think the question is a very simple one, which is how much of the really revolutionary things people are going to do in the next five years are done on the PCs or how much of it is really focused on the post-PC devices.
