Food for Healthy Skin

Food for healthy skin. List of foods for healthy skin. How to create a diet for healthy skin.

Avoid High Glycemic Diets

High glycemic diets increase the probability of acne, just as eating a low glycemic diet can help prevent acne. This is because high glycemic foods – especially soda, sweets and refined grain products – stimulate the release of insulin by causing a rapid rise in blood glucose levels. Overproduction of insulin leads naturally to acne.

Similarly, other foods that stimulate insulin production – such as dairy products – should be taken in small quantities.

Avoid Iodine

Iodine is commonly found in shrimp and iodized salt. This mineral causes pores to swell, thus encouraging acne. Be careful when consuming high amounts of seafood.

Consume Antioxidants

Antioxidants are powerful foods that prevent wrinkles and help promote healthy skin. They break down free radicals and improve oxygen supply to all the cells in the body, thus better nourishing the cells and slowing down the aging of skin cells.

Powerful antioxidants include green tea, apple peels, berries, grapes, cherries, artichokes, spinach, romaine lettuce, broccoli, red peppers, corn, leeks, mustard greens, peas, turnips.
