Improving Intuition
Improving Intuition. Developing intuitive decision making and How to develop your intuition. Step-by-step guide.
Intuitive decision making
How do you develop your ability to make intuitive decisions? First, develop your intuition by learning how an intuition decision feels like:
How an intuitive decision feels like
An intuitive decision ‘feels right’; this decision resonates with your ‘gut’ feeling best. Intuition complements reason. It is an inner knowing that reaches an even deeper layer than your emotions. The better you are able to develop your intuition, the more you will be amazed at how your intuitive subconscious mind makes better decisions than your analytical conscious mind.
Developing Intuition
Align with your highest goal
The best way to develop your intuition is to learn to trust it. Practice making decisions by asking yourself: does this decision resonate with my highest goal? A decision that feels right resonates with your deeper inner state.
Start with the small decisions
Especially for those of us who tend to put off making decisions, develop your intuition by starting with the small decisions. These are decisions such as whether you should have dinner with this person, take the taxi home, make that phone call. Instead of spending time rationalizing and mulling over it, just ask: “Is it a yes, or is it a no?” Which gives you a better gut feeling?
Improving Intuition with a Coin Flip
Michael Ray, the first John G. McCoy-Banc One Corporation Professor of Creativity and Innovation at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, also recommends that you use a coin flip to help you find your intuitive decision. As he says, “You’ll see the second you flip the coin, your gut instinct reacts one way or the other. Intuitively, the answer already existed within.’
