NLP Communication Model

NLP Communication Model. Assumptions of NLP and how neuro linguistic programming works.

NLP makes the following powerful assumptions. Originally used to model excellence, NLP was based on several presuppositions as listed below. Scientists adopted the following assumptions about the human mind:

NLP Assumption: The map is not the territory

While you will have an understanding and perception of the world around you (map), that does not reflect the actual state of the world around you (territory). By filtering information through your senses, values and beliefs, you create your map of the world by focusing on only the sensory bits that are in line with your perceptions.

NLP Assumption: There is no failure, there is only feedback

This is a powerful assumption to understand. If what you are doing does not create the desired result for you, it does not mean that you have failed. All it means is that you have received feedback or created a result with your past actions. Failure exists only as a perception, a state of mind.

Instead of focusing on the problems, focus on the solutions. How can you turn yourself around, what can you learn from this feedback?

If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got.

Enough said.

NLP Assumption: Your perception is your reality

Whatever you perceive to be true will be true; the way you perceive things creates your map of reality. There are few universal truths; there are only different perceptions.

NLP Assumption: You have all the resources you need to change

You have everything within you to create the change you desire.
